Summer Time and Essential Oils

Lesley Silver

Summer is coming just days away. Kids are getting out of school, and that means planning how to keep them busy.

What else can it mean? Time in the sun, need to find ways to stay a little cooler, enjoyable refreshing drinks and of course the bugs come out, oh no!

So enjoy the summer, but also benefit from Essential Oils to get you through the time, these oils ( and so many others) are great to have on hand.

Just a few tips to make your time a little easier.

One of my all time favorites for cooling down is Peppermint. Get a spray bottle out, add a few drops of Peppermint with water and spray away. If you are going on road drips, you can also use peppermint to keep you awake and alert. Get a car diffuser and add some in. If you get a little tummy issues while driving - add some to your palms and breath in

One of 'the go to oils year round, and most known is Lavender. Need to relax a little or calm down add some on your wrists. Getting to much sun, and getting a little burnt, make a blend with a little aloe vera gel and a few drops of Lavender, apply as needed. Great for kids 2 years and over, adults too.

Another great "refreshing" Essential Oils is Lemon. I love adding it to my water. If you love strawberries as I do, a great way to enjoy a nice drink. For a pitcher worth, a few cups strawberries blended, place in pitcher, add some water and I enjoy some concentrated fruit juice as well to it. A few drops of Lemon essential oil ( ensure it is only Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) . You can add some honey or Agave Syrup for sweetness. This is great for the kids, and keep the Vodka bottle close by for the Adults. Awesome and refreshing.

Similar to the sun, insects are something that you want to protect yourself from but since they are bound to get you at some point. Some great Essential Oils to have around. Lemon Eucalyptus. Lemongrass, and more. Here are a few great combos to try. Which one works for you? Add these Essential Oils to a spray bottle,...

20 drops lavender + 20 drops lemongrass + 10 drops peppermint

20 drops rosemary +  20 drops cedarwood + 10 drops peppermint

15 drops eucalyptus + 20 drops lavender + 15 drops lemongrass

If you still get those nasty bites and need a great blend, try this using a 10 ml roller bottle.

17 Lavender

15 Peppermint

8 Tea Tree

a drop Aloe Vera

Fractionated Coconut Oil to tops off.

So go out, have fun, and enjoy the time with family. Protect yourself

I hope you enjoyed a few summer tips.
